The INTENT of music at Glebe

At Glebe Primary School we believe an ambitious core values based music education along with the development of our pupils’ positive mindsets, will help pupils gain an understanding and skill set for music appreciation and application. The question based topics inspire our pupils to practise and perform music in a confident manner and builds their self-esteem alongside their musical talent. Music lessons equip our pupils to listen and appraise music through varied cultures, ages, genres and styles, alongside building in skills for singing both solo and ensemble and giving them the skills to create, compose and improvise with their own lyrics, music and instruments. Whole class musical instrument teaching for two years at Glebe, equip them with notation reading skills which can be adapted for a range of other instruments.  

The Music curriculum has been made for Glebe by Glebe. It has been organised and researched from the use of the Model Music Curriculum and supported by the use of Charanga. In the classroom you will see big questions being answered, key vocabulary used practically, skills being taught and talent being celebrated and showcased. All pupils thrive in lessons and love of Music is evident throughout the school. Review and progress (RAP) quiz sessions are used to enhance the pupil’s knowledge from short term to long term as well as a range of valued experiences. Children shine in our KS2 choir and singing assembly each week is a special time for all.
