Year 1

Life in Year 1 - the start of Key Stage 1

Year 1 is an exciting year as we move into Key Stage 1. We’re no longer the youngest in the school and show how grown up we are! We work together as a whole class and on our own more than we did in Reception and we’ll make amazing progress in our Reading, Writing and Maths.

As with all learning at Glebe, our aim is to make it ‘irresistible’ and Year 1 will certainly be playful and fun! There are so many exciting opportunities to be had this year.

Some of our Y1 WOW moments!

In Year 1, we made yummy healthy pizzas together. We had a number of toppings to choose from and enjoyed eating them.

Geography Week in Year 1!

To celebrate all of our learning through geography week, Year 1 were very excited to travel and explore our local area of Southwick Square.

In pairs, we travelled up and down the high street - pointing out human features such as the post office and the COOP food store. Gazing through the the window, our tummies began to rumble at the bakery.

After our trip, we all wrote some fabulous piece of writing in our creative books.
