POSITIVE MINDSET

Glebe is becoming a true Positive Mindset school

Why Glebe values a positive mindset in our pupils

A positive mindset is the fundamental foundation that lies in the heart of each of our three values     Nurture, Inspire and Challenge.

In this ever-changing world the development of a positive, strong, resilent character is an unchanging requirement. We strongly believe that our pupils must have opportunities to develop these personal strengths that will enable them to go out into the world with the confidence, resilience and self-belief needed to negotiate the challenges and opportunities that life will bring. Our job here at Glebe is to ensure we provide a rich context in which our staff can educate, support and challenge our pupils in applying these personal strengths, so that they can act with wisdom to achieve the best outcomes academically and socially.

What educational research says about positive mindsets

There is a wealth of evidence showing the strong link between Character Education, behaviour, positivity, behaviour and social and emotional development. As a staff team, we have been looking at the research of world-renowned psychologist Carol Dweck who has been researching mindsets for over 30 years. Her research shows us that by learning about positive mindsets, children can increase their learning power, become more resilient and improve their mental wellbeing.
