Year 2 met the fire service!

We got to sit in the fire engine! It had huge leather seats and a big seat belt

 By Isabella O, Year 2

On Wednesday 30thJanuary, Year 2 had a special visit from the local fire service. Four fire fighters came to Glebe school to teach us all about keeping safe in the event of a fire. The fire fighters talked to us about the importance of fire alarms in our homes and why we should never play with matches or lighters. They taught us how to ‘Stop, drop and roll’ if there was ever fire on our clothes. We even got to see the outfits the fire fighters wear when they are working and watched Miss Williams try it on!

After our talk inside, we went into the playground to see the fire engine. We had a fantastic time looking at the different parts of the fire engine and even sitting in the front seat. Some of us were lucky enough to spray the hose before the water ran out! At the end of our visit the fire fighters put the siren and lights on and went back to the fire station. We had a great time learning about fire safety!
